The media ledger
Who's covering Texas
Every fact sheet on this site is built from other outlets' reporting. This page counts who those outlets are and which way they lean, so you can see the slant in what gets reported before it ever reaches you.

The outlets
And 964 more outlets with fewer sheets.
What the outlets aimed at each party
Stories that put a party in a bad light: accusations, attack ads, investigations, false claims, controversies. The first column is how many of those stories about each party reached this site from the outlets it reads. The second is how many this site shows, which is always the same number for both. Any gap between the columns is the outlets' imbalance.
| The outlets ran | Shown here | |
|---|---|---|
| Against Republicans | 99 | 73 |
| Against Democrats | 30 | 30 |
The outlets went after Republicans 3.3 to 1.
The AI, kept in check
An AI writes each fact sheet from the outlets' reporting, and it picks up their habits. When it writes a loaded word such as "embattled," "extremist," "fugitive" or "socialist" in its own voice, the sheet is thrown out and rewritten in plain terms.
6 times in the past 30 days the AI reached for the outlets' loaded language and was made to rewrite.
How these outlets get here
Most stories on this site are found through Google News headlines, plus Texas government records and a few direct feeds. Google decides which outlets appear in its headlines. This site then requires two separate outlets before a story goes up. Both steps shape what you see, and this page exists so you can see how.
Leanings are the AllSides Media Bias Ratings for each outlet's online news. Outlets AllSides hasn't rated show as "Not rated." Government records aren't counted.
